Laurence Petrone – The Letters of Van Gogh
During her residency organised by the Van Gogh House in Zundert, Laurence Petrone read Van Gogh’s letters—902 in total—paying particular attention to light and colour. She asked herself: how are light and colour described in these letters? The letters are so rich in every aspect of Vincent’s life that light and colour appear in many different forms. His sharp mind itself is a source of light—reflecting not only on painting, but on all aspects of life.
A selection of excerpts, published in limited editions, offers a modest sample of the many things his mind was able to encompass and to which he gives light and colour.
